Two in Thailand

After raising three children and watching them graduate from college, Bob and Carol decided to leave the educational field and pursue a dream that had been put on hold for 35 years (since graduationg from the University of Northern Iowa). "Two in Thailand" is the journal dedicated to that dream - to serve in the Peace Corps. This is a personal blog. The opinions expressed within do not necessarily represent the views of the Peace Corps or the United States Government.

Large Group Activities

The students had a lot of fun and hopefully learned a lot about the spread of AIDS! In the first and last pictures, the girls are the condoms and the boys are the penises (sp? maybe the plural of penis is peni). Anyone who could not match up were declared "unsafe" and were eliminated from the game. In the middle two pictures, one unexpecting student was infected with AIDS. After everyone had unprotected sex 6 times, they were tested for AIDS. If their body fluid (in the cup) turned pink, they had AIDS. Most students thought there would be 12 cases. But over 60 of them tested positive for AIDS. This demonstrated the rapid spread of the AIDS epidemic.

Wow. I wonder if you would be allowed to play such "forward" games here in the US. Looks like the kids are having fun! This is a better game than scraping 5 tiles in the pool before you got to swim. Or the pulling weeds contest.

Haha...I agree Linz, although I think a game like this at a birthday party wouldve sent some kids home crying. Good to see youre spreading some knowledge!
